» SOUTH AFRICA WINS FIFTH TEST AGAINST M.C.C. TEAM GREAT BOWLING FEAT BY BISSETT Cape Town, February 8. South Africa won tho fifth and final cricket Test match at Durban against (he M.C.C. team by eight wickets. In the preceding days’ play the Englishmen, batting first, made 282. to which South Africa replied with 332 fur seven wickets, when Deane declared. Tbe M.C.C. team went in again and had scored 30 for one wicket when stumps were drawn. Resuming their innings in fine weather on a fast wicket, with tho wind blowing half a gale, (ho visitors could do little against the bowling of Bissett, who was aided by the wind, the ball getting up awkwardly. The left-handers had a hard task against the wind. Bissett bowled excellently and was carried oil' the field at the conclusion of the innings. Ho look seven wickets for 29. The Africans’ second innings, with (59 to make, was a race against tho rain, which fell within ten minutes of the conclusion of the match. Stanyforth, addressing an enthusiastic crowd, said he was sorry they had not won tho rubber, but he thought the result was a true reHex of the play. Following are the details:— M.C.C. AUSTRALIAN TOUR OF NEW ZEALAND EXPERIENCE ON WET WICKETS DESIRED Sydney, February 9. The Australian cricket team to tour New Zealand leaves Sydney by the Marama for Wellington to-morrow. The "Sydney Morning Herald” says: “The Australians should give a good account of themselves, and the experience should be beneficial to the younger members of the team, who, in a few years, will have to uphold tho prestige of Australian cricket, on the international fiekl. Couditions in New Zealand can compare with those in England. It is hoped that a few raindamaged wickets will be encountered. The benefits to bo derived from the experience would bo incalculable to Ponsford, Kippax.
