ELECTRIC POWER

4 A CURTAILMENT OF USE In common with other centres in the Wellington province, a call is being made upon the City Council to curtail the uses of electricity on account of the unusual circumstances prevailing during the present shortage of water. The Tramways Committee reported to the City Council last night that a request had been received from the Public Works Department for a reduction in use of electric power in the city and that arrangements had been made for the lighting of the street lamps to be delayed and for dispensing with all unnecessary street lighting. Should any additional curtailment of the power supply be desired, the question of further reductions had been left with the Mayor to decide after consultation with the general manager, electricity department.
