UNREGISTERED DENTIST FINED
SECURITY FIXED FOR APPEAL Samuel Montii'ore Cohen, proprietor of the Rapid Dental Repair Service, in Manners Street, was convicted by Mr. E. Page, S.M., in tlie Magistrate’s Court yesterday on a charge of having practised dentistry wltilc unregistered. Accused, who was a registered dentist in England, came to the Dominion in 1923, said the Magistrate, in giving a reserved judgment, but be had not succeeded in passing the examination enabling him to become registered in this country. On November 8 a detective called at his premises and asked defendant if he could replace certain gold wires on some artificial teeth belonging to the detective and this he did, and was paid a fee ‘of 15s. The Magistrate held that as Cohen examined the detective's month, and took two impressions of his teeth and gums, and repaired the teeth, and fitted them in. he was liable under the Act. The detective paid three visits in all. and on each occasion defendant was present, and ready to attend to customers.
The defendant was fined ,£5 and but at the request of Mr. J. Meltzer, who represented Cohen at the hearing, the Magistrate increased the fine to J!5 Is., and fixed the security for appeal at .£lO 10s.
