MONKEY FILM STARS
Max, Moritz, aud Akka, famous monkey movie stars, who will open a short season on the stage ot the Regent Theatre at the matinee at 2.15 to-morrow, will arrive from Auckland at Thorndon station at 12.31) p.m. to-day. With their owners, Messrs. Castany aud Judge, the monkeys will be met by Mr. A. R. McElwain, manager ot the Regent Theatre, J. C. Williamson and various film representatives, and others. Ma«, Moritz, and Akka come direct from a season in Auckland, where, it is reported, they broke all records. They have became worldfamous by means ot the screen, hating appeared in numerous “Our Gang” and Fox film comedies. On the stage their performance is said to be far funnier than on the screen. They go through a hundred and one antics, but it is the unexpected tricks they perform that makes the biggest appeal to audiences. In view of the great interest being taken in the act, the management has arranged foi a special children’s season at 11 o'clock on Saturday morning (in addition to the usual matinee at 2.15). when Max, Moritz, and Akka will perform specially for the children. The session will be preceded by a reception, at 10.30, at which the young folk will have an opportunity of personally meeting the performers. It is stated that the heaviest booking yet recorded is being taken at the Regent, and patrons are advised to reserve without delay for both matinee and evening performances, aud next Saturday morning’s special performance. at the theatre (phone 44—144). and the Bristol. The picture on the bill has been specially chosen, it being the Paramount farce. "Tell Jt To Sweeney,” starring l Chester Conkliu and George Bancioft.
