Cyclone in Queensland.—A cyclone •truck Longreach, Queensland, with great fury. Verandas and roofs were torn from a number of buildings, and the flying iron caused considerable damage. Telegraphic communication was Interrupted.—Press Assn. Many Apply for One Position.—At a meeting of the Hutt Valley High School Board last night, Mr. G. Stirling was appointed assistant caretaker of the school. There were' about 170 applications.
