WELLINGTON DISTRICT SCHOOLS
IMI’ROVEAIENTS IN PROGRESS. A new school is about to be erected by the Wellington Education Board at Wharanui, in the Alarlborougli ward, to replace an old building, formerly belonging to the Public Works Department, which has been used for school purposes. The Havelock school is being remodelled mid turned round to face a more suitable and cheerful position. At Muritai two additional rooms are nearing completion to remedy the congestion in the infant .department. This addition is in brick.
A new school, consisting of three rooms, to accommodate 150 cjiiklren, is in course of erection at Fry’s Lane, Lower Hutt.
'The board is paying attention to many country schools, endeavouring to bring them up to date with respect to improvements to the playgrounds, and sanitation especially.
