COOLIDGE AND PRESS
GUARDIAN OF PUBLIC CONSCIENCE PUBLIC DISCLOSURE URGED OF FOREIGN CONNECTIONS BY Telegraph.—Press association. ( Copyright.) Washington, February 5. President Coolidge, addressing Washington journalists, said: “The Press is the guardian of public cpn= science, but it evinces a harsh critical attitude. Whenever any sec* tion of the Press of our country undertakes to exert influence on behalf of foreign interests, the candour of the situation would be greatly increased if its foreign connections were publicly disclosed.” AGAINST INTERVENTION ATTACK AT HAVANA Havana, February 5. The Argentine delegation launched an attack against intervention in the affairs of Pan-American nations. This is considered to be in reference to Nicaragua and may frustrate efforts to codify Pan-American international law, since it is believed that the United States will not permit an expression against intervention in the proposed code.
