TOWN AND COUNTRY Miss Bosworth, of Palmerston North, is at present at Turakina. Captain and Mrs. Gill, Wellington, are visitors to Wanganui. Sister Edith Smith (Palmerston North), and her sister, Mrs. Sadd (Wellington), are spending a holiday in the Marlborough Sounds. Miss G. Lethbridge, of Waipukurau, is at present in Feilding. Mrs. G. Cave France, and Miss Patricia France will leave on Friday by the Ulimaroa for Sydney en route for England. Miss N. McHardy, of Palmerston North, has returned from Akitio. Mr. and Mrs. J. Neame, Mr. and Mrs. W. Stewart, of Wanganui, are on a motor tour of the North Island. Miss E. Graham (South Island), is the guest of Mrs. Le Cren, Feilding. Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Bishop, of Waipukurau, are visiting Hamilton. Mrs. Lovell-Soundy has returned to Wanganui after a trip, to Auckland. Mrs. and Miss Robinson are Sydney visitors to Wanganui. Miss Crawford, who has been staying with Mrs. Ireland, Palmerston North, has returned to Wellington. Miss Tully, of Napier, passed through Palmerston North, on her way to Hamilton. Mr. and Mrs. Williams, of Auckland, accompanied by their small son, have been staving with Mrs. Mountford, at Wanganui. They have now gone on to Napier and Taupo by car. Mrs. P. Sim, of Palmerston North, is at present in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. F. Giddeons, of Dannevirke, are visitors to Wanganui. Misses. J. Fookes and A. Bundell, are New Plymouth visitors to Hamilton. The engagement is announced of Zillah Dawn, youngest daughter of Mrs. E. B. Morton, of Palmerston North, and the late Mr. A. C. Morton, of Feilding, to William Herschel, third son of Mrs. J. 'T. Ward and the late Mr. J. T. Ward, of Wanganui. On Saturday last at Fordell, the death occurred of Mrs. Tilley, wife of the well-known trainer, Mr. F. Tilley. Mrs. Tilley developed a chill when returning from Wellington last week, and later pneumonia set in, resulting in her death after a very short illness. Respected by all who knew her, Mrs. Tilley’s good influence in Fordell will be greatly missed. She leaves a son and daughter. Sister Alexander, district nurse (Palmerston North), is convalescing in Gisborne at present, and will return to Palmerston early in March. Mrs. A. C. McDiarmid and her children have returned to Masterton from Wellington. Miss Beiliss, of Masterton, has returned from a visit to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. Denbee have left Masterton on a holiday to Napier. Mr. and Mrs. Hodgins, of Masterton, are spending a holiday at Paraparaumu. Miss Muriel Mitchell, of Waipukurau, has been appointed to the teaching staff of St. Matthew’s Collegiate School for Girls, Masterton. Mrs. J. J. Evans and family have left Masterton to join Mr. Evans, who has taken up his residence in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. G. Sellar and Miss Sellar spent the week-end in Wellington. „ , , Mr and Mrs. Hodder and Miss Ethel Daniell, Masterton, went to Wellington for the week-end. Mrs. Watson has returned to Masterton from a visit to Wellington. Miss Betty Gill, of Masterton, who has been the guest of Mrs. Cameron at Flat Point, is now staying at Seatoun. Miss Elspeth Donald, of Lansdowne, Masterton, is the guest of Mrs. H. Scales, Castlepoint. The wedding took place recently at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Levin, of Winifred Ella, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Best, of Koputaroa, to Mr. Frank Allen, of Levin. The Rev. Crockett conducted the ceremony, and Mr. J. P. White was at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a frock 61 White French georgette and silk lace. Her veil was arranged in Russian style and she carried a shower boquet of roses, carnations, camellias and maidenhair fern. She was attended by her sister, Miss Florence Best, who wore a French frock of pale cyclamen georgette, cyclamen hat and silver and cvclamen shoes. Her boquet was of shades of pink to tone. The bridegroom was attended by Mr. N. Vickers as best man. After the ceremony a reception was held at the residence of the bride’s parents, where the rooms were decorated with pink and white flowers. Mrs. Best received her guests wearing a frock of black crepe de chine and floral georgette and a black hat, and carried a bouquet of scarlet flowers. When the bride and bridegroom left later, the former wore a floral georgette frock, tailored coat and bois-de-rose hat to tone. Mrs. W. Blvth, of Hamilton, is the guest of Mrs.' B. F. Corrigan, St. John’s Hill, Wanganui. Miss O. Flavin (Awatuna), with a party from A.uroa, ascended Mt. Egmont on Saturday last. MADAME MENERE’S TOUR. Madame Menere will be. shortly commencing her 1928 Dominion tour, her opening town being Invercargill. The North Island tour should begin about the same time as last year, round about Easter. More definite details will be announced at a later date Madame announces the arrival verv shortly of some wonderful furs from London and Paris.—Advt.
