A. Longuet plays D. O. Whyte, and G. H. Robertson plays the winner of P. Brandon and R. B. Smith. The tennis courts are now open for play. NEW ZEALAND ASSOCIATION. The monthly meeting of the council of the New Zealand Golf Association was held at the office of the secretary (Mr. G. O. Sutton), on Monday, December 6, when there were present: Messrs. E. u. Kirk (chairman I, J. B._ Mac Ewan, A. J. Abbott, H. B. Balneavis, A. D. S. Duncan, and W, E. A. Gill. An apology was received for the unavoidable absence of Captain Conway. . , „ The statement of finances showed a balance at the Post Office Savings Bank of £6OO, and at the National Bank £167. The Hamilton Golf Club having written asking for a definite reply to their application for next year's championship tournament, it was resolved to inform them that the tournament would be held at Hamilton unless it were considered, after au inspection by the chairman in February or March, .that the course was not likely to be in suitable condition. It was decided that the starting date be approximately the middle of zi ®® pt ®“ lb A r - The Rotorua Golf Club wrote to the effect that they were quite Prepared to find the balance of the prize money f° r tb e professionals’ autumn tournament, over and above the £l5O provided by the association, and they suggested Wednesday, Thwday, and Friday. March 2, 3 and 4, as the dates. It was resolved to. write to the secretary of the Professionals Association and ascertain how these dates will suit the professionals. The Otago Golf Club advised that they purpose holding an Easter tournament next year, and that they will not hold their usual New Year tournament. A reply was received from the Department of Internal Affairs to the association’s letter suggesting that they be permitted to arrange a golfers welcome to the Duke of York, to take the form of a four-ball bogey handicap open to a limited number of members from each affiliated club. The suggestion is to be submitted for consideration in connection with the Wellington programme of entertainment. The Wellington City Council wrote asking the association to arrange for a member to be nominated for inclusion on the sports committee in connection with the welcome to the Duke of York, and Mr. J. B. Mac Ewan was appointed to represent the association.
