FRENCH SLOOP TO REVISIT NEW ZEALAND
Dominion Special. Auckland, December 8. The French sloop Cassiopee, which visited Auckland during January last, is expected to arrive from Noumea on Wednesday of next week. During her stay of eight days at this port, the Cnssiopee will dock for cleaning and painting. On December 23 she will sail tor Dunedin, where she is due on December 27. While the Cassiopee is at Auckland her commander, Captain Jean Decoux, will probably visit Dargaville to view the remains of the French wooden frigate Alcemene, which was wrecked during June, 1851. The hones of the old frigate became buried in sand, but recently, as a result of the action of wind and wave, the skeleton of the ship was revealed.
