SOVIETS POLICY
HOSTILITY TO BRITAIN PROFERRED HAND NOT ACCEPTED NO INTERFERENCE IN CHINA BY telegraph.—Press association. COPYRIGHT. Berlin, December 6. T“The Soviet’s hostility to Britain is on the principle of the French proverb : ‘This animal is dangerous, because it defends itself,’ ” said M. Tchitcberiu in an interview. “The Soviet has repeatedly offered Britain the hand of friendship, but it remains in the air and is not taken. I am unable to restrain hotneric laughter when I read of the arguments for membership of the League of Nations, that it is a guarantee against something or other, when it is perfectly clear that the League only puts greater power in Britain’s hands. The Soviet will not enter into such a trap. The Soviet lias no intention of interfering in China, where nationalism has sprung from the people and is not inspired by the Soviet.”
