TWO BOYS INJURED

RUN OVER BY ICE CREAM VAN. Dominion Special. Auckland, December -1. An accident of a somewhat serious nature occurred in Main Street, Devonport, this morning, when two lads, Gordon Cox (8 years of age), whose home is at 8 High Street, Devonport, and Thomas Ford (aged 12), who also resides at Devonport, werb knocked down by an ice cream van, the property of Messrs. Astrella and Sons. At the time of the accident the tiro boys were manipulating a children’s trolley round the Bank of New Zealand corner, when it is assumed that one of the front wheels of the trolley suddenly came off, throwing the occupants further towards the centre of the road. At this critical moment Astrella’s ice cream van, which was proceeding up High Street, struck the trolley and passed over the two lads, pulling up some considerable distance further on. ' On being picked up, Cox was in an unconscious condition, and both boys were immediately admitted to the Auckland Hospital, both suffering from injuries to their legs, while Ford also sustained a fractured forearm. Seriou c injuries to the kneecap received by the younger boy, Gordon Cox, necessitated an immediate operation.
