THE SAILORS’ REST

AN ENJOYABLE CONCERT. On Thursday evening, in the Waring Taylor Street Hall, the members of the Island Bay Life Saving and Surf Club rendered a programme of musical items, the following contributing: Miss Edna Ingram, Miss Lennie, Mis Duncan, Miss Barbara Dicker. Messrs. Dicker, Parsons, Young, Hart, Ingram and the Surf Club Mouth-organ Band (under Mr. Dicker). .Mr. Marshall (Tregennon) also contributed an item. and choruses were sumr, with Mr. Hart at the piano. . The items were enthusiastically received, and encores were the order of the evening. A short address was given by Mr. McCallum. Mr. N. A. Ingram (secretary of the Club) was in the chair. A hearty rote of thanks was accorded the Surf Club for arranging the programme, and the hope was expressed that a return visit would be paid. The chairman expressed the pleasure of the members at being able to do anything that would help tc brighten the stay of the men while in port, and promised that the club would again entertain the men at a latei Jute. After supper, was served, the evening was brougdit to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
