TRAGIC FLIGHT

FRENCH AIRMEN SHOT BY , MOORS Paris, November 30. A tragic story of the flight of two French aeroplanes from Dakar is reported from Casablance. The airmen, Gourt and Lasalle, flew in separate aeroplanes, and were accompanied by Moorish interpreters and a mechanic, Pintado. Gourt made a forced lauding in unsubdued Spanish territory, and Lasalle descended to assist him. The Moors fired, killing Lasalle and Pintado, and rendering Gourt unconscious. An interpreter reached Cape Juby, and from there the aviators Ville and Mermoze started to rescue Gourt. Ville was forced to land, owing to lack of petrol, and the Moors attacked Mermoze, who swooped down and picked up Ville in the nick of time. Later he found the burnt debris of ✓fie aeroplanes. Gourt reached a Spanish outpost.
