Owing to the force of the current in the Grey River, the motor boat placed by the County Council at the NgahereBlackball bridge for the purpose of ferrying passengers across the river, and also for conveying foodsluffs for the residents of Blackball, upset whilst conveying two passengers and some goods for Armstrong and Ilnisty across to the Blackball side (reports the Greymouth “Star”). The boat was in charge of Messrs. .Mountford and Clnpham, and their passengers were able to land safely on the far side of the river after having been carried away some distance by the current. The parcels of goods were washed away.
