DOUBLE MOTOR TRAGEDY
CORONER FAILS TO FIND EXACT CAUSE. Dominion Special. Dunedin, December 1. The inquest was concluded this morning, before Mr. J.’R. Bartholomew, S.M., into the circumstances of the deaths of Michael Thomas Black and Murdocn Graham, two Hindon farmers, who were killed on November. 20 when returning from the Outram Show. Deceased were pinned under a car driven bv Black, and were apparently killed instantaneously. Another occupant, James Harrison, escaped. He gave evidence as to what happened. After hearing other witnesses the Coroner said that Harrison’s evidence did not throw very much light on the accident, except that it showed that the car had been driven properly until coming down the hill. The cause of the accident could only be a matter of inference, but the theory put forward by Constable Southgate commended itself to him. If that explanation was accepted the driver was not particularly at fault beyond the fact that he had taken an unnecessary risk in coming down’ the hill at the speed he did. He returned a verdict to the effect that deceased died from injuries as the result toe accidental overturning of a mo-tor-car.
