CALEDONIAN CARNIVAL
Despite dull and threatening weather there was another large attendance at the Caledonian Carnival at Kilbirme last night. At the dance hall visitors learned to do the Charleston, to the delightful acompaniment of Carter s orchestra, and there were dozens ot novel side shows. Hall Bros. William Tell shooter was in great demand, as was alsco "The Winner,” a popular form of entertainment, which was making its first appearance since the Dunedin Ex hibition. Ally’s ekitt.es, under the direction of Mr. J. Strong, was well patronised by young and old. Messrs. Dawson and Bishop had numerous sideshows, such as the merry-go-round, the ocean wave the bat, and others It Is announced from now on there will bo an excellent programme daily at toe carnival, among the attractions being variant lighting effects, tug-of-war con tests, and boxing tournaments. In connection with the latter. .laniito. Purdy, and McCarthy will he in attendance and will give an exhibition bout. Ihe Evans Bav Yacht Club regatta will hr held and also a life-saving displav., nn, ‘ probably some surf competitions. . nines, citizens will give a special firework■ display, and children’s plain and fane’ paper and poster dances will be l.el. an December 4 and 11. Twelve prizewill be awarded. This avenin., the .Artillery Band will be in attendance, nnd plav popular music. The carnna is recommended to anyone, in search of entertainment
