EASTBOURNE BUSES

(To the Editor.) Sir,—The proposed purchase by the council of tlio buses, a vote on which is being asked, is a wise and businesslike move. The Mayor at a recent meeting submitted sufficient data on the financial aspect that they should .bo purchased. How the present service with no methods of organisation, started and has grown makes one wonder what would have happened under systematic methods of organisation. A much larger deficit on the ferry service would be shown. Mr. Palmer, late town clerk of Wellington, who has just returned from a world tour, gives gratis advice on transport- problems, viz., "The world over, buses have come to stay.” If the poll is carried it will lielp to make amends for past exploits and will bring in good returns. No extra managers are necessary. Mr. Menzies and his assistant, Mr. Duncan, are well up in the methods of organisation. If the ratepayers turn down the proposal it is their funeral. They will have to pay increased deficiencies and see good money going into outside pockets which onesightcdly they discarded. - 1 aW ’ CtC - RESIDENT.
