The Minister of Public, Works (Hon. K. S. Williams) left last night on a tour of the Rangitikei district. The Minister of Agriculture (Hon. O. J. Hawken) returned to Wellington yesterday from Wanganui. The Minister of Lands (Hon.. A. D. McLeod) left last night on a visit to South Canterbury and Otago. Mr. A. Harris, M.P. for Waiteinata, is visiting Wellington. Sir Charles and Lady Todhunter arrived in Wellington yesterday by the Maheno. on their way to Christchurch, the original home of Sir Charles. During the past few years Sir Charles has 'held many important administrative posts in the Indian Civil Service.

The funeral of the late Private Percy Flovd, 8/1468, N.Z.E.F., took place at Karori on Saturday. The service was conducted bv the Rev. H. O. W. Christie. Amongst thoje present were His Worship the Mayor (Mr. C. J. B. Norwood), Mr. E. P. Norman (town clerk), Mr. Robert Tait (assistant town clerk), Captain J. F. Rockstrow, representing G.0.C., Major Watson (R.S.A.), Mrs. Neilson (Women’s National Reserve), and a representative from the Pensions Department. The death is reported of Mr. Owen Kelly, aged Cl, a well-known building contractor in the south (states a Press Association message from Gore). The centenary of the birth of Lord Lister, who discovered the antiseptic treatment characteristic of modern surgery, will be celebrated in London early in April, 1927, by the Royal Society, of which he was president, 1895-1900. The University of New Zealand has received from the society through its president, Sir Ernest RuthO.M., an invitation to be represented at the celebrations; and has appointed as its delegate Dr. D Colqnhoun, M.D., F.R.C.P. (London), M R.C.S. (England), emeritus professor of mediine in the Medical School, Dunedin, and now resident in London. Mr. A. Orton, stationmaster at Stratford," arrived yesterday on a visit to Wellington- He was accompanied by Mrs. Orton.
