HOMING PIGEONS

The Petone Homing. Club held its race from Opua on Saturday last, an air-line distance of 404 miles, for a trophy donated by Mrs. A. Barnard. The following were the results:—J. Hexrted’s blue chq., hen Daybreak, velocity 785yds. per minute, 3. The next and last "race of the old bird season will be flown fi’om Parenga.

WELLINGTON CLUB. „ . , The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held its weekly race from Auckland, a distance of 308 miles air line. There were 10 lofts, with 47 birds competing. This race proved a hard one, r.e at The time of liberation (8 .15 a.m.l, the weather was showery, with a south-west wind blowing, which the birds bad to fight against all the way. None of the birds timed in on the day. the first bird arriving early on Sunday morning. The results were:—Mr. G. Wilson’s R. 0.0. 28W.. 1922. time arrived, 5.11.28 a.tn.; Mr. K. Lamb’s 8.0. 260W., 1924, 6.24.39 a.m.: Mr. J. Priest’s 8.0. C. 530W., 1924, 5 42.49 a.m.; Mr R. Hastie’s B.P.C. 48W„ 1923, 6.53.39 a.m The race next Saturday will be a ten-minute interval one. each tird doing the distance on its own from Auckland.
