NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL A meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association was held last night. There were present: Messrs. E. S. Innes, D. R. Menzies, H. Paton, C. F. Turner, G. Laue ilan, R. G. Duncan, and A. D. Bayfield (hon. secretary). . Mr. E. S. Innes was re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. " The Marlborough Association wrote asking for approval of March 19 as the date for the championship regatta- at Picton. This was agreed to, The Wanganui and Wellington Associations are to be written to suggesting that they hold their regattas on March 5 and 1respectively, and that the Victorian. Association be invited to compete at all three regattas, a grant of £lOO to be made towards the travelling expenses of the visitors The application of the West End Club, Auckland, for a blazer in black and white was approved. A progress pavment of £750 to Sims and Son, London, on the eight-oared boats being built was passed. Messrs. Sims reported the completion of five boats, and that tliev expected to complete the full order by the end .of the year. The secretary was instructed to write to local associations asking -for a return of value of plant in furtherance of the scheme proposed to cover boats against risk of accident when travelling to and from regattas. n • Messrs. D R.- Menzies and A. D. Bayfield were reappointed to represent the association on the Olympic Games Council.
