RISE IN SUGAR
TWENTY-FIVE SHILLINGS INCREASE
Dominion Special.
Auckland, November 28.
An increase of twenty-five shillings a ton in the price of all grades of raw and refined sugar is announced by the Colonial Sugar Refining Company, and the increase is to take effect to-morrow, and brings the wholesale price of No. 1 A, or table sugar, to £25 a ton. The present increase is the third within three months. In November last year the wholesale price was £22 a ton, a difference of £G 10s. a ton compared with the. price at the beginning of that year. The company also announces increases in the prices of golden syrup and treacle.
