CODLMITTEE MEETING.

Carterton, November 27.

A meeting of the general committee of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society was held yesterday, Mr M; McLeod presiding. The secretary presented a coniparative statement of the estimated receipts for the current year, the receipts being £2950 Ils. 6d., an increase of £lOl 6s. Id., as compared with the previous year. The expenditure was shown as £6B 12s. lid. less than the previous season, and the profit on the general show account was estimated at £395 165., as against £205 17s. for the 1925 show. It is anticipated that the bank account will show an improvement of £550 as compared with the previous financial year. The .Carterton School was granted the use of the showgrounds for sports on December 4, and the Wairarapa Associated Schools for December 10. The Carterton Methodist Circuit was granted the use of the showgrounds and buildings on Anniversary Day, in the event of it being wet. Donations to the jubilee show prize fund were acknowledged, with thanks, as follow: —Mr. R. Cooper, Gladstone, 10-guine.i cup, to be allotted as the committee think fit; the New Zealand Friesian Association, the Milking Shorthorn Association, the New Zealand Cattle Breeders? Association, £25 each for the prize fund in the respective sections, and the Clvdesdale Horse Society, for its championship trophy. All the dairy breed associations are assisting. Twenty-two new members were elected, and "four resignations accepted. . The Masterton A. and P. Association were accorded a vote of thanks for the loan of tablecloths. Vote's of thanks were accorded all who had assisted at the show, special mention being made of the assistance given by the railway staff and Messrs. A. J. Harris (Martinborough), W. Kidd, and H. Beckett (Greytown). A deputation from the Carterton Amateui Athletic Club interviewed the association in regard to lighting the oval with three lights of 3000 candlepower each, at an estimated cost of £240. It was suggested that the society should co-operate with the Football and Athletic Clubs by providing one-third of the cost, equal to one light. The suggestion created a favourable impression, and was referred to the finance committee to report at next meeting. '
