SOCIAL NOTES

TOWN AND COUNTRY. Mrr and Wrs W. S. Brown, of Awapuni, are .visiting Wanganui. Mr. and Mrs. J. Elliott, of Rangitikei. have been staying with Mr. G. Elliott, of Feilding. Mr. and Mrs. T. 11. Nixon, of Wanganui, were due to anive in Palmerston North during the week-end to take up their residence. Miss Enid Wilson, of Palmerston North, has gone to Elthara for a few days, and is the guett of Mrs. Hardwick-Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. E. Morgan, of Hastings, are at present on a visit to Wanganui. A prettv w’edding took place at the Kosv Hall, Palmerston North, on Wednesday last, the contracting parties being Lexie Evalyne, second daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Taylor, of Ferguson Street, and Gordon Astley, third 'son of Mr. S. Howan, Island Bay. Wellington. The bride was charmingly attired in a French model of water-waved satin, with a train. Her veil was arranged in Coronet fashion, and she carried a shower bouquet. The bridesmaids were Misses Gwen Young, of Palmerston North, and. Miss Gladys Taylor, si'stcr of the bride, both of whom were attired in peach and ’jade green georgette. The flower-girls were Misses Quita Southgate and Edith Humphries. Mr. F. Tavlor, of Palmerston North, carried out the duties of best man. while Mr. L. Grover, of Palmerston North, was groomsman. The reception was held at Freeman’s, when a large number of congratulatory messages were read. The happy counle left later for the north by car, the bride travelling in a mauve repp frock with hat to match, and a Manchurian fur, the present of the bridegroom.

Owing to the conditions of things in London at present Madame and Mr Menere, the well known fur merchants cable that thev have secured a very fine assortment of Marmot and Musquash Coats' at a very cheap price. Thev have purchased for cash over 500 coats in one line alone, and these will be shown in New Zealand early next year.—Advt.
