THE REV. HOWARD ELLIOTT’S CHARGES
Sir,—lt is great fun reading the arguments for and against this pother a Rev. Mr. Elliott has stirred up. Some, like "Fair Play” in this morning’s paper, to my mind evade the question at issue, blit "Angus Macpherson” in his 14 lines has put the matter in a nutshell. , Surely tho argument and also the rqv. gentleman, could easily be. settled if, since the inception of the Prisons Board, a list of prisoners convicted, nature of crime, date of imprisonment, and data of release (if anyl were published; then the public could judge impartially which side is right and whether there are at present prisoners still detained (conduct good) for lesser crimes. Whnt a saving of expense to the country this would have been if done in the first place.—l am, etc., BONNIE PLAY. Palmerston North. November 25. 1928.
