OLD BACHELOR AND HIS £1470 FORGETS THE HIDING PLACE Dominion Special. Christchurch, November 26. Recently the sum of £ll7O was found in an old shed and in a hut on the property of a resident of I’rcbbleton. This lucky man is Mr. Steven Fenwick. He said after the discovery that he had an idea that the money was soniewhere about, but he was not sure exactly where it was. The discovery was made by a young man named Middleton, who lives nearby. While he was dismantling an old shed on Mr. Fenwick’s property Mr. Middleton came on a drain pipe. He gave it a tap and some silver began to trickle out; Apparently the silver went on trickling out of the pipe, for it grew into quite a stream. There were also lots of bank notes in the pipe. When the hoard was counted it amounted to £1400,. Later a search was made in a hut on Mr, Fenwick’s property, and a further £7O was found hidden in tins Mr. Fenwick is 'an old man and a bachelor, and lie had forgotten whert he had hidden the £1470.
