TOWN AND COUNTRY. Mrs. P. Cooke, of Wellington, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. F. Cooke, of Fitz.berbert Avenue, Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. 11. W. White, of Takapau, are at present on a visit to Wanganui. Miss Jean Harper, of Feilding, is a visitor to Palmerston North for a few da vs. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Mackie, of Waipukurau, are on a visit to Wanganui. Miss D. Speedy, of Palmerston North, is staying with her sister, Mrs. J Armstrong, at Dannevirke. Mr. and Sirs. D. Bennett, long residents of Gisborne, will leave next week to take up tlieir residence in Whatigarei. Miss L. Lvnch, of Wellington, has arrived in Napier, where she intends to reside. ' Another successful session was experienced vesterday by those conducting the fair in the A. and P. buildings, Palmerston North, in aid of All Saints’ Church. All manner of goods were obtainable bv those who went to purchase. and. the practical articles displaced for sale accounted largely for the satisfactory turnover. In the evening the tug-of-war contests again engaged public attention, while other amusements added to the evening’s pleasure. Owing to the conditions of things in London at present Madame and Mr Menere, the well known fur merchants .'able that thev have secured a verv fine assortment of Marmot and Musquash Coats at a verv cheap price Thev have purchased for cash over SOD coats in one line alone, and these will be shown in New Zealand early next year.—Advt.
