Dominion Special. Auckland, November 25. „ “This is a shocking state of affairs,” said the Depute Official Assignee (Air. G N Morris) at a meeting of creditors of Neil John McNeill this morning. “He burned his books, he left his partner to bear the responsibility’, and lie disappeared There is nothing that can be said for him.” .. Bankrupt’s statement showed that ins liabilities amounted to £1.72 7s. (Id. His assets were £lO, and this left a deficit of £162 7s. 9d When he returned from the front lie worked for « the Railway Department for a time. For two years he held a clerical position in the Y.M.C.A. In January, 1925, he went into ’ business as a picture house proprietor at Waiton. In conjunction with pictures he ran a confectionery business and fruit shop. Tt was decided to oppose bankrupt s discharge until lie made some effort to reduce his liabilities. A motion of sympathy was passed with bis partner.
