POOR QUALITY COAL

ARAWA’S PROGRESS DELAYED.

Dominion Special

Auckland, November 25. Although the steamer Arawa had a good voyage from Home, she was four days behind schedule time when she arrived at Auckland to-day. Hie trouble was below decks, and was due to the noor class of coal that the ship carried in her bunkers. Owing to the coal strike in England, the Arawa had to go to Antwetp for bunkers, ami the quality of the coal available was exceptionally poor in comparison with that from English mines. Right through the vovage the Arawa’s engineering staff did their best, but it was found impossible to maintain the vessel’s usual speed. ■
