The problem of bush sick country is engaging the attention of the Government, and Mr. Hawken (Minister of Agriculture) expresses satisfaction with the experimental work in seeking means of making land better which is being carried out at the Agricultural Department’s experimental farm at Mamaku. The Minister, who visited the farm this week, stated to-night that the Empire Marketing Board, London, had offered to assist New Zealand in connection with research work into the mineral content ot pastures. • Bush sickness, he said, was considered by the Department to be caused through lack of . iron in pastures. ‘‘lt is very probable that a. good deal of experimental work will be done during the next year or two in conjunction with the Empire Marketing Board,” said the Minister.
