MOUNT COOK SCHOOLS

The Defence authorities handed over to the Education Department some time ago a portion of the reserve in Bucklo Street as a site for the new school for boys and girls in the Mount Cook portion of Wellington, on condition that the old school site in Taranaki Street was transferred to them.

The new combined school having been erected in Buckle Street, steps are being taken to carry out the arrangement. The old building in Taranaki Street is now being removed in order to clear the site, which will then be added to the defence area, and, it is understood, used as a parade ground for drill purposes.
