A Press Association cable message from London states that Sir Francis Bell will sail for New Zealand on December 3, in the Corinthic. The Minister of Health (Hon. J. A. Young) will leave at noon to-day for Te Kuiti, where he will open a new hospital. Mr. Young will return to Wellington on Friday morning. Mr. R. T. M. Edmonds was yesterday appointed full-time organising secretary of the Wellington Manufacturers’ 'Association. The Minister of Internal Affairs (Hou. R. F. Bollard) left for Palmerston North last night, and in company with the Hon. E. Newman, M.L.C., and Mr. F. F. Hockiy, M.P., will pay a visit to Flock House. The Minister expects to return to Wellington to-morrow night The Minister of Agriculture (Hon. O. J. Hawken) is expected to return to Wellington from Auckland on Saturday. The Attorney-General and Minister of Justice (Hon. F. J. Rolleston) arrived back from Timaru yesterday.
At the meeting of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association yesterday advice was received from the secretary of the Wellington Builders and Contractors’ Union of Employers that Mr. W. Mill, of Messrs. McLean and Gray, had been re-elected to represent that body on the General Committee of the Manufacturers’ Association. Mr. A. Markman, general manager for the Pacific Cable Board, left on a business visit to Auckland yesterday.

Malone, director of publicity for First National Pictures, left last night for Dunedin The Wellington Manufacturers’ Association has decided tot support the candidature of Mr. Ji Sutherland Ross (Dunedin) for the presidency of the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, and Mr. R. Hudson (Dunedin) for the vice-presidency. Mr. D. Sutherland, of the Hinakura station, Nassau Valley, Wairarapa, returned bv the Tahiti on Monday from an eight months’ trip abroad. Mr. J. IT. McCarroll, chairman of the Ka'ipara Hospital Board, is visiting Wellington.
Lieutenant P. de la M. Barcham, ol D Company, 4th. Battalion, Wellington Regiment, has been awarded the colonial Auxiliary Forces long service medal. The Rev. Hobbs, vicar of Christ Church, Wanganui East, has retired after 50 years’ service, 20 years of which he spent in Hastings. He was also stationed at Terrace End, Palmerston North, before being appointed to Waimaniii East Mr. Hobbs intends to reside in Hastings. Mr. P. D. Barcham, representative of the Wellington Manufacturers’ Association on the Chamber of Commerce, notified the meeting yesterday that he would be unable to continue as the association’s representative. Mr. L. A. Brookes, general manager of Bond’s Hosiery Company (N.Z.), Ltd., was appointed to fill the vacancy. A letter of appreciation of his services is to be sent to Mr. Barcham. Mr. W. Appleton, who has been on a visit to Australia, returned by the s.s. Marants yesterday. The Rev. F. R. Harry, of the Vivian Street Baptist Church, left by the s.s. Tahiti last evening on a visit to Australia.
