CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
ROTARIANS’ GIFTS TO THE POOR At the weekly luncheon of the Wellington Rotary Club yesterday notice was given concerning the usual Christmas offerings of hampers to the poor people. Rotarian D. J. McGowan stated that it was desired that the gifts be made in a different manner from previous years. Instead of the hampers being made up and sent by the committee it was suggested that some of the Rotarians might call on tile people and deliver their hampers personally, as that manner of giving would be more appreciated. He also asked his fellow Rotarians to hand in any names of poor families which the committee might not be able to get through the usual channels. Last year just over 100 hampers were donated, and they had 107 names on the list, so that some had to be ent out. This year they could dispose of as many as members might feel disposed to give. When he asked if it was the wish of the club* that these hampers be sent at Christmas the answer bespoke lieartj and unanimous approval.
