IJeloio Mr. .1 11. Salmon, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court yesterday, a young man pleaded guilty to issuing (wo valueless cheques in the city, as the result of which lie gained the total amount of .£l2 ss. by means of false pretences. The lapse was attributed to accused starting drinking. Accused was admitted to probation for n period of twelve months, the condition being that he take out a prohibition order and refrain from drinking intoxicating liquor during that time.
The Mavor will receive and welcome the delegates to the Boy Scout Conference, to be held in the Town Hall on Thursday.
