It is reported that the Indian partridges (about 30 in number) imported from India by Colonel R. D Neill, “Barrosa,” some months ngo and liberated bv him a tthe back of the Old Man Range (Mount Somers) in the Ashburton' Gorge, last September, have not since been sighted by either shepherds or others visiting those regions (reports the “Guardian”). It is thought that they have either flown to remote regions away in the ranges, or succumbed to the climatic conditions. It is stated that a similar fate happened to other game birds imported bv Mr. R. C. Todhunter, Lake Herron, some *ime earlier. Such unfortunate experiences are by no means encouraging to tTiese gentlemen, after the expense incurred in importing and liberating the birds
