FOXTON NOTES

Dominion Special.

On Wednesday afternoon several games of bowls were played on the Foxton green. The principal games of interest were between the two rinks selected to represent the local club in the triangular contest at Shannon on Wednesday next. Two games were played, one of 21 heads and another of 15 heads, which resulted in Thomson’s rink gaining a margin of three points over Nye’s rink, and the second game ended in even scoring. /k committee meeting of the Foxton Croquet Club was held on the green yesterday afternoon, presided over by Mrs. R. Bryant (president). Also present were Mesdames M. E. Perreau, Moore, McMurray, Downes, Barr, and the secretary (Mrs. R. Owen). It was decided that first, second, and points prizes be given for the handicap singles match in both A and B grades in connection with the Wednesday tournaments. The draw for the holders of the Nye mallets went to Mrs. McMurray and Miss Wanklyn. The association forwarded the following list of fixtures for inter-club matches:—First round. December 2: St. John’s, Feilding, v. Woodville, Terrace End green; Levin v. Manawatn, Northern green. Second round, December 9: Manawatu v. Northern, Takaro green; Terrace End v. Foxton, Manawatu green. Third round, December 10: Kimbolton v. Takaro. Northern green; Oroua, Feilding, v. Terrace End, Manawatn green. Fourth round, January 20: Levin v. Takaro, Terrace . End green; Woodville v. Oroua, Feilding, Takaro green.. Fifth rotltid, date to be arranged: St. John’s, Feilding, v. Foxton, Manawatu green; Northern v. Kimbolton, Takaro green. Play in the above matches to commence at 10.30 a.m. It Was resolved to write the association asking if it would be possible to have the date of the first inter-club match altered owing to tt clashing with the queen carnival crowning ceremony. It was decided that in future / prizes won during the season be presented at the close of the season, instead of at the beginning of the next season. It was also resolved that no limit be placed on the number of points that might be scored in the Wednesday half-hour tournaments. Mrs. A. Ross was elected an honorary member. In the handicap singles Mrs. Owen (5| bis.) defeated Mrs. Barr (7J bis.), 26—13; Mrs. Barr (7| bis.) defeated Mrs. Bryant (8| bis.), 26—13.
