SCOPE OF INQUIRY WIDENED

As a result of an interview a deputation from the New Zealand Educational Institute had with the Minister of Education (Hon. R. A. V right) vesterdav, the scope of the proposed revision' of the primary school syllabus will be widened. After hearing the representations ol the deputation tlie Minister agreed to accede to the request that the whole of the primary school syllabus, instead of merely the programme of work for Standards V and VI, should be included in the scope of the inquiry; and he also approved of the appointment to the committee of two additional members on behalf of the institute, and a third if necessary. Mr. Wright suggested that as the members already appointed were all North Island representatives, in submitting names the institute should consider the South Island, and the selection of at least one country teacher.
