THE JEW IN PROPHECY

An interesting and informative lecture on “The Jew in Prophecy was delivered by the Rev. H. E. Wallis, M.A., on Thursday evening in the Maranatha Hall. There was a large attendance. Mr. . Wallis said that the work and purpose of the Jew was to preserve the world from corruption. We. were indebted to the Jew for monotheism, a Saviour, and the greatest Book (the Bible) was also the product of the Jew. Mr. Wallis described the great care exercised by the copyists of the parchments, which were sometimes yards m length, and so particular were they that if an error was discovered the whole of the work of copying had to be commenced over again. Then again the Jew was a living example of the only way in which men could preserve their lives, viz., by refusing to have contact with the deteriorating influences around them. Thus they preserved the principle of separation, underlying which lay a great and deep spiritual truth.
