INTEREST OF AIR. HUGH J. AVARD

Tcsterday Air. Hugh J. Ward, who Is interesting himself in the appeal for funds for the new Karitane Hospital, paid a visit to the building JJ’’ n ch is in course of construction. Air. M ar<i, who was accompanied by the Rev. A an Staveren, Mr. S. A. Lqnguet Mr. E. M. Hunt (president of the Rotary Club), Mr. J. W McKenzie, Air. 11. Amos, and Air. A. Goldie, was shown ’ round the building by Sir Truby King- P e ® x ' pressed himself as very interested in the Karitane movement, and said that lie was ready to help, as best be could, the fund. . A visit was also paid to the Cniidren’s Hospital, which owes its existence to the efforts of Air. AVard. A meeting of the Plunkct Karitane Committee was held later, those present being Mr. Hugh Ward. Air. McGowan (chairman), Mr. W. Gray Young, Air. C. 11. Chapman, Mr. If. Amos, Dr. Herbert, Dr. J S. Elliott. Mr. E. W. Hunt, Mr. S. A. i-onguet, Miss Ward, and the Rev. Weeks. Business connected with the appeal for funds was discussed, and it ivas decided that a meeting bo held to form a committee to carry out the suggestions received. A resolution of sympathy and regret was forwarded to Sir Truby King, who had an accident while showing the party lound _ the Karitane building and broke two ribs.
