CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL
VISIT BY AIR. HUGH J. WARD. Mr Hugh J. Ward was yesterda.v es-' corted to the Children’s Hospital to view for the first time the result of Jus efforts of over 15 years ago, in raising the funds needed to erect that institution. Ho was accompanied by the Rev. H. Van Staveren, Messrs. E. Hunt and H. Amos (president and secretary respectively of tho Botary Club, aud others. Mr. Ward was met at the hospital by Mr. 0. M. Luke (chairman of the board), Mr. J. Coyle (secretary), and Dr Wilson (medical superintendent). While, with natural pride, he was entering the “Hugh Ward” ward the visitor was greeted by a chorus from the lungs of about a score of babies. Air. Ward expressed his great delight at the magnificence of the hospital. As a director of the Sydney Hospital, he lias had experience of hospital management, and his congratulations to the officials on the splendid manner in which tins institution is conducted, were not those of a mero layman. After the inspection Air. Luke, on behalf of the board and others concerned in the welfare of the hospital, tendered thanks to Mr. Ward for having made the building and its upkeep possible. The partv then proceeded to the Kantane Hospital, as recorded under a separate; heading. Those concerned afterwards attended a meeting of tho Rotary Chib Committee specially appointed to deal with the question of raising the necessary funds. At that meeting Air Ward submitted plans of a campaign, which were enthusiastically received Details are to be published later.
