SWIMMING
WELLINGTON CENTRE. A meeting of the Wellington centre was held on Tuesday night. The programme was approved for the Boys’ Institute Carnival at the tepid baths, Tasman Street, next Saturday. This programme includes a representative game of polo between Wellington and the Navy. It is the first carnival of the season, which will be opened witn « few races at Te- Aro baths in the afternoon. It is also proposed to launch two large carnivals on December 4 ana 18. The Hutt Club’s application for affiliation to the centre was approved and forwarded to the N.Z.A.S A. The club’s colours are not yet decided. Mr. P. Coira was appointed sole water polo selector. The Polo Committee was elected as follows: —Messrs. Fordham, I. McHardy (convener),, and J. Alexander.. The proposed tour of the Australian ladies was dealt with at some length, and left over till the next meeting, pending further advice from the N.ZiA.S.A. The Hutt Club reported that Hutt baths were to be opened officially on November 26 at 2.45 p.m. The officers elected at the annual meeting were: president, Dr. Herbert: vice-presidents, Eight Hon. J...G. Coates, P.C., Hon. R. A. Wright, Messrs. J. P. Maxwell, I. Duncan, C. B. Norwood ; local officer, Mr. P. Coira; chairman, Mr. P. N. Rundle; lion, secretary, Mr. R. Mason; hon treasurer, Mr. W. J. Look; delegate to N.Z.A.S.A., Mr. B. O’Neill; educational officer, Nir. Fisher: auditor, Mr. A. A. Somerville; handicapper, Mr. J. Calnan.
