ACCUSED A RESPECTED FARMER BY TE6KGB4FH —PRESS ASSOCIATION. Stratford, November 16. It is stated in connection with the charge against Stanley Emerson Carlyle Tavlor, who was remanded for a week on" a charge of attempting to murder James Farrellv, that the latter had been in the district for some time, and that certain people were afraid of him. He went to Taylor’s on Friday last, when there was some trouble. He went back on Sunday, when shooting occurred after a threat by Farrelly to tie Taylor up. It is alleged that Farrelly was wandering in the bush for several davs previously. Taylor is a highly respectable young man'with a farm'near Tangarakau. Farrelly’s condition is still critical, showing no change since his admission to the hospital, and it is expected that he will lose the sight of one eye.
