PIGEON RACING
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society held its weekly race last Saturday trom Auckland, a distance of 30a miles air line. There were 15 lofts, with 83 birds, competing. This race proved one o the hardest this season, the birds havtn o to face a southerly wind all the way down, which proved a great test. None arrived home that day, so the members were on the alert early on Sunday mull) in«» to fee their birds arrive soon aitci daybreak, when the pigeons started to arrive. The first bird arrived at 5.23 n.m. The liberation was made at I a.m. bcinsr rather late for such a j distance. The following are the tvsults:Mr. W. Ferkinss b.c.c., <la, w. 19-1 arrived shr. The race next week will be from Auckland.
