AMATEUR ATHLETICS

' LOWER HUTT CLUB. A meeting of the management committee of the Lower Hutt Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club, was held last. week. A letter was received from the town clerk, advising that the club had,been granted the use of the Recreation Ground for the purpose of holding a sports meeting ou New Year’s Day and that 10 per cent of the gross gate wonld be charged for the use of the ground. The terms were accepted. It was decided to make Tuesdays and Thursdays the official training nights. The first evening meeting will be held on Monday next, when the following events will be decided; 220 yards, BSO yards, cycling A grade two' miles. B grade one mile. 100 yards junior handicap, 100 yards ladies’ race, hoys’ race, relay race, and javelin.
