OUTBREAK OF TYPHOID
CAUSE TRACED TO DAIRY FARM BY Telegraph.—press association Masterton, November 16. In connection with the outbreak of typhoid it was stated at the Borough Council meeting to-night that the source of the infection had been traced to a local dairv farm outside the borough, which is'subject to inspection by the Agricultural Department. It was found that cans containing milk from which the infection was believed to have originated had been standing in a Stream' which was fed by the affluent of a septic tank, while the adjacent piggerv also had soakage access to the stream'. The supply was. immediately suspended and will remain so until the Department is satisfied that the conditions on the: farm Jiave been materially improved. So far only one positive case has been diagnosed, but four others are under observation. _ All the patients were supplied with milk from the same farm.
