ARGENTINE’S . EMBARGO ON NEW ZEALAND APPLES

In the course of a. conversation with a Dominion . reporter last. night, Mr. Humberto Bidone, Consul-General for the Argentine Republic, stated that he had received a cablegram from his Government announcing the - fact that it has signed a decree definitely removing the embargo on New Zealand apples imported into the Argentine. This embargo was temporarily removed last January, but. its removal has now been made defifufe and permanent. - . Mr. Bidone, expressed the personal opinion that the cause of the Argentine Government’s action ,w?s the favourable report of the two experts sent to New Zealand three or four’ months ago, and who found conditions here very satisfactory. Mr. 1 Bidone also considered that, as a result of the lifting-of the embargo, importations of New Zealand apples into the Argentine would increase very considerably.
