HUTT COUNTY COUNCIL
MONTHLY MEETING.
Mr. S. Blackley presided at the month; ly meeting of the Hutt County Council last night. There were also present Councillors D.Il. Hoggard, A. H. Mildeahall, J. M. Whiteman, F. Brady, W. Dyer and A. H. Benham 'engineer). The Department of, Lands end Survey wrote stating that it was rot possible to give effect to the Surf Club s request to erect a clubhouse on portion of the Paekakariki Domain; The Public Works Department announeed that the Taita: Gorge, affected by the proposed railway line, had not .yet been settled, and that there was no prospect of the work being done this year. The Public Works Department suggested that the Main Highways. Board take’the land required for the deviation of the Main West Rond at Parematfti and -that the council agree to pay I alf of the compensation'awarded. The council agreed to this course. The Marine Department wrote advising that the plans for the erection of a boat and clubhouse. <n . the western end of Karehana'Bay hod been approved and asked if the council. approved of the proposal. The council signified itsagreement; . - ■. ■■ . - The Education Best'd notified ihat it had decided to continue .in occupation of tlio Pa remain. Hall for school purposes until further notice. The Eastbourne Borough Council requested, permission to run its municipal buses through that portion of the district under the jurisdiction of the Hutt County Council.—The council granted permission. The Wellington City Council i rote stating that the county grader had removed. tlie, inetal placed on the Wainui-o-mnta/Road, on that portion disturbed by the pipe laying, and that in the circumstances the Citv Council v as of the opinion that it should rot be called upon to pay for further metal. —Mr. Mil.denhair stated that the metal supplied was pot sufficient 1 to compensate -for the damage thev did.
