LARGE INCREASE IN TRAFFIC.
The following figures, given in the October number of the Railway Magazine, t show the" large increase in the traffic handled now by the New Zealand Government" railways compared irtth "«2£S a S„ tM6, 1926, 11,813,480 ;• increase, 2,987,098. Season tickets, 1906, 147,989; 1936, 600 292; increase. 452,303; Goods tonnage, 1906, 4.241,422; 1926, 6,808,603; increase, • 2,567,181. ■ Livestock tonnage, 1906, 173,744; 1926, 447,539; increase, ’2731795. The total train mileage in 1906 was .’6,413,573, as against 10,319,407 in 1926, an increase of 3,905,834 miles. •
