“IT COMES ALONG’’
an optimistic view. There would appear to be a goodly allowance of optimism iu the character of at least one member of the Makara County Council, judging from the remarks by Mr. Dunbar Sloane at the meeting of the council yesterday. Members were discussing the proposal that new and up-to-date public conveniences should be erected at Titahi Bay The plans and specifications had been completed, anil had received the approval of the authorities. There was a little opposition to the proposal, however, one member considering that it would be wiser, for financial and other reasons to postpone the erection of the buildings for a few months. Mr. Sloane, however, did not agree with him, and considered that there would not be any trouble in finding the money for alterations that might later on be needed. “Now is the time; now is always the time,” was Mr. Sloane's motto “There is always something coming along, isn’t there, Mr. Chairman?” he asked. “It is happening to the Citv Council all the time. They say: ‘Wo shouldn’t have spent that money then; we need it now.’ But the money is provided. It conies along. So do it now. Get it done now.” It was oerhaps some tribute to Mr. Sloane’s optimism, that (he chairman announced tha,t it would be “done now.”
