HEAVY RAIN AT CHRISTCHURCH
MARS CARNIVAL WEEK. Dominion Special. Christchurch, November 12. Heavy rain fell at 10 o’clock to-day completely marring the holiday for people’s day at the show and the trotting meeting, though there were indications of a .clearance about midda v. A thunderstorm at 2 o’clock brought further heavy rain which continued throughout most of the afternoon and there is every indication of it continuing.
WELCOME RAIN IN . HAWKE’S BAY BY Tilegraph.—press association Hastings, November 12. There was a thunderstorm to-day and heavy rain fell in the district. The drenching was welcomed by farmers and business men alike. Large hail fell in some localities injuring apples and pears. The extent of the damage is not at present known.
